Car Insurance Lexus (Car Insurance). What size motor should I get for my fiberglass boat? What size motor should I get for my fiberglass boat? I recently inherited a 15' fiberglass boat from my father. It does not have a motor on it, so I need to know how large of a motor I need. the boat is about 6.25-6.5' wide. It also has a flat, almost "cathedral" shaped hull. Thank you. Smallest motor I would use is a 50 HP. But also look on the Helm and in the location for the outboard motor for a "Power Plate". That plate will give the Maximum HP you can safely install. Most,(not all) boats have a BIA/NMMA plaque or plate stating the boats specifications somewhere on interior of the hull.If the boat has a plate, the maximum reccomended horsepower will be listed there.Do not exceed this horsepower rating. If no plaque is there, consider a motor in the plus or minus 10hp range. min 20 hp for 20 mph. First of all, the hull type of your boat is aka a tri-hull. Auto parts : Radar Detector Acura 1995 . Radio Capacitor Alfa Romeo 1996 . Radio Control Module Audi 1997 . Lexus . How to Replace Timing Belt and Its CostReplacing a timing belt yourself saves hundreds of dollars. A professional mechanic charges between $250 and $750 to replace a timing belt, according to data for 2010 cited on the Cost Helper website. The price varies by car model because some cars have difficult-to-reach timing belts. Performing the job yourself may take several hours, but you will be saving money. Difficulty:Moderately Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Car stands Jack Socket set Socket wrench Engine support Step by Step : 1 Take off the wheel well shrouding. This gives you access to the timing-belt pulley and crankshaft. Then, look for the flywheel timing mark and the camshaft timing mark. Move them both to Top Dead Center (TDC) mark. Look through the bellhousing hole to find the flywheel TDC mark. The camshaft TDC mark is much more obvious on the cam. 2 Set up an engine lift to hold the motor (see Tips below.) Changing a timing belt usually requires motor mount removal, so the engine must have support. Once the engine has skyhook support from the jack, unbolt the right side motor mount. 3 Release tension on the belt tensioner pulley. Remove the timing belt once there is no more tension. 4 Thread the new belt into the old timing belt's place. Make sure not to move the crank pulleys or the camshaft because this puts the engine out of time. 5 Make sure the timing is right by turning the crank at least two entire revolutions on the crank snout. You need a socket to reach and turn the crank snout. 6 Bolt the motor mount back onto the engine. Then remove the engine supports. You can also now put the wheel well shrouding back in place. Tips & Warnings Most time belt replacements require access under the vehicle. If the car sits too low to the ground, a jack with car stands works. Rental stores carry engine lifts.
Lexus . How to Replace Timing Belt on a CivicThe timing belt keeps all of the parts of your Civic's engine running in sync. The rubber belt will eventually wear down through normal use. Honda recommends changing the timing belt at different times for different models and conditions. Consult the appropriate manual. Always replace the timing belt before it fails. If the timing belt breaks, the best case is that the car stops running. In the worst case scenario, a broken timing belt can cause massive engine damage, requiring repairs far beyond the cost of a timing belt replacement and possibly junking the whole engine. Replacing the timing belt is a fairly involved job, but if you don't mind spending some time and getting your hands dirty, you can do it yourself for a fraction of the cost of taking it to a mechanic. Difficulty:Moderately Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Floor jack Jack stands Tire iron Ratchet set Screwdriver set Permanent marker Wood block Step by Step : 1 Use the floor jack to raise the front driver's side wheel off the ground. Set jack stands under the front undercarriage and lower the car onto the stands. Remove the front driver's side wheel and the plastic shroud in the wheel well. This will make it easier to access the crankshaft bolt later on. 2 Open the hood. With a permanent marker, note the positions of all the spark plug terminals on the distributor cap. The position of the number 1 plug will be important, and later you will need to replace them in the exact same configuration. Remove the spark plugs and plug cables, and then remove the valve cover by undoing the bolts and lifting it away. 3 Remove the drive belts to allow access to the timing belt. First, loosen the pivot bolt and pinch bolt underneath it for the power steering pump belt, then swing the pump out until the belt loosens enough to remove. Repeat the same process to remove the alternator belt. The alternator pivot bolt is located underneath the alternator, and the pinch bolt can be reached from above. 4 Support the motor from underneath with a floor jack under the oil pan. Use a block of wood between the jack and the oil pan to protect the oil pan. With the jack supporting the weight of the engine, remove the driver's side engine mount to expose the timing belt cover. Remove the timing belt cover. 5 Turn the crankshaft using a socket and ratchet until the first piston is at top dead center (TDC). The piston is at TDC when the distributor rotor points to the mark you made for the first cylinder spark plug. 6 Remove the crankshaft bolt. In order to remove the bolt, you'll need to prevent the crankshaft from turning. Remove the starter, and wedge a screwdriver between the flywheel and bell housing. Removing the cranks shaft bolt will require some force. 7 Remove the crank pulley. Be careful not to lose the small key pin (Woodruff key) behind the crankshaft pulley. Put it somewhere safe. Remove the lower timing belt cover. 8 Loosen the tensioner bolt and remove the tensioner and timing belt. Install the new tensioner. 9 Install the new timing belt. The "UP" mark on the camshaft sprocket should be at the top, and the timing mark on the crank sprocket should be aligned with the arrow on the oil pump. Tighten the tensioner to 33 ft/lbs. torque, return the key pin into the groove and replace the crankshaft pulley. Tighten the crankshaft pulley bolt, and then turn the crankshaft pulley 3 teeth counterclockwise to tighten the belt. Step by Step : 10 Put everything back together again, reversing the order you took it apart in. *"~~~ understand what the parts you're working on do and how they relate to one another. So if you haven't read Chapter 9, please read it before going on with this chapter. I'll wait.... Because most of the parts related to your transmission are difficult to get at and require special tools and a hoist (unless you really love lying prone under a car with oil dripping in your face), you really can't do much to repair your transmission yourself. However, you have no reason to feel helpless, because there are lots of things you can do: * You can troubleshoot problems and make minor repairs and adjustments yourself. * 788

Saab 9-7X. * Troubleshooting \lour Transmission A low transmission fluid level or a malfunctioning, inexpensive gizmo may cause the same symptoms as a faulty transmission. Who knows how many unsuspecting customers have paid big bucks to rebuild or replace transmis sions when they could have corrected the problems themselves with very little money or effort? This section shows you how to troubleshoot your transmission and try the cheapest remedies before paying professionals to do major surgery. If you have to take the problem to a specialist, read the sections in this chapter on dealing with professionals before going to one for a diagnosis. If you're lucky, your transmission may need only a simple adjustment. If you're not so lucky, your transmission may need to be rebuilt or replaced. Your transmission fluid may be low or dirty, or it may have dried. Chapter 3 tells you how to find and check your transmission dipstick and how to buy the proper kind of transmission fluid for your vehicle. It's a good idea to check this fluid fairly often anyway as part of your regular under-the-hood check. A good many "band jobs" have been bought and paid for when a quart of transmission fluid would have solved the problem for pennies.
